Information and Skin Care Education

Understanding Your Skin

Pre-Teens and Young Adults

Pre-Teens and Young Adults

It's important to know that at any age, your skin is the largest organ of your body. It is constantly changing, regenerating and healing. It is also constantly being affected by you internally and by environmental factors. So trying to tame your skin can be very difficult. It is key to understand that your skin type is next to impossible to change, but how your skin looks and feels is manageable, with proper skin care education.

These can be some of the hardest times of our lives! Bodies are changing and the skin can go from looking great to problematic. With the change in hormones and body growth, excess sebum production is common. All the products on the market will say that they can help you but it is wise to have your skin assessed first. Extraction of blackheads and pustules may prove to be more beneficial than leaving them in place which may cause further issues like increased pore size and infection.

In Your 20s, 30s and 40s

You Probably Don't Have Acne

People in this age group are always wondering why they are still breaking out "at this age". Hormones continue to change and affect your body. The extracting of blackheads and pustules is key to softer texture, less redness and less bumps! Even though you might not have a lot in the way of extractions, having a facial every change of season (four times a year) is recommended.

What Is That Spot On My Skin?

You Probably Don't Have Acne

There, we said it. So many first timers come by for a facial and they mention that they have acne and they are using acne related products for their skin. This is just not true. Having a few break outs once in a while is not mean you have acne. These types of products can severely dry out your skin and thin it out making you susceptible to sun damage. A skin care assessment will give you the education you need to take care of your skin.

I cannot tell you how often we meet people who come for the first time and say, "Yeah, I don't know what that is, I've had it forever and my doctor/dermatologist can't help me". In most cases it turns out to be something as simple as a black head. If you have something foreign on your skin that a doctor or dermatologist cannot help with, contact us. Dealing with "that spot" on your skin may help prevent a bigger problem from occurring down the road.
